Can you tell us about your background?
How did you discover your path as a creator and what was the revelation that made you want to get started?
After training in communication and graphic design, I worked in corporate communication departments . An expatriation led me to rethink my working methods and launch myself as a freelance graphic designer.
The birth of my 3rd little boy was also marked by the birth of my illustration project: Le Lion et La Plume . I was looking to decorate my son's room but couldn't find any posters to my taste. You can never be better served than by yourself ;-)
How do you keep your creativity alive over time?
I walk a lot, especially when I'm lacking inspiration. Getting some fresh air allows me to see things from a different perspective and I often come back with new ideas and desires. And then I try to regularly have real free time, without constraints, without obligations or pressure of time or results... These moments of "emptiness" are quite rare between my job and the children but they allow me to get into a "flow" and are each time very rich in terms of creativity.
Which creation, among all those you have made, is the most meaningful to you and what personal story is hidden there?
My first creation is the Lion. It is what led all the others. I wanted to create a poster for my son's room that was not too childish, that he could keep for a long time. My style and my creations evolve over time but minimalism, simplicity and softness are the values that have accompanied me since the very beginning of my project.
How do you see your art evolving in the next 10 years, and what new creative territories would you like to explore?
I would love to use my illustrations on decorative objects, especially on tableware. And then continue to create posters and stationery with sweet, positive and optimistic messages! I would like my creations, beyond the decorative aspect, to be able to spread good vibes and transmit messages that boost and bring a smile to the people who look at them.
How do you find the balance between your professional life and your creativity, and what tips help you maintain it?
Today, I work on both art direction projects for companies and on Le Lion et La Plume. It is not always easy to combine the two, but I really enjoy these two activities and they feed off each other. Le Lion et La Plume is my heart project that allows me to recharge my batteries, escape, and create according to my desires!
Is there a project that really changed the course of your career and why?
The moment I left online sales to go meet my customers at markets or in stores. I realized how important it is to dare to show your work and to interact with your audience. It was a revelation.
What is the most valuable lesson you have learned since starting your creative career? What advice would you give to those aspiring to pursue a creative career like yours?
"I never lose. Either I win or I learn."
Stay patient, test things and DARE to get started even if everything is not perfect ;-) Take each new adventure as a learning experience.
